Welcome to the Church of Christ in Chatham, New Jersey

2009 Community Service Activities

June 16th, 2009 - Healing Hands International / Children's Greeting Card Fundraiser

The children’s service project for this month involved the making and selling of greeting cards. The money collected will be given to Healing Hands International, an organization in Nashville that provides irrigation kits and wells for many people in other countries. The children watched a video explaining that many people in other countries have no immediate access to water. These people must walk for hours just to collect their water needs each and everyday. Following the video, the children eagerly designed and colored their own cards. Seventy-five cards were then sold and the money donated to this worthwhile cause.

June 13th, 2009 - MBS Food Pantry / Chatham Food Drive

The Chatham Church of Christ at 382 Fairmount Avenue in Chatham offers many thanks to our neighbors for their participation in our recent food drive. Over 1,000 items total were delivered to the MBS Food Pantry at the Parsippany Christian Church, enough to last them for about four months. Minister Tom Hart said, “What a tremendous boost for the pantry and what a great blessing to the currently 167 families that come to the pantry every two weeks. Thanks to you for your hard work and the benefit of your labors!” Not only are the churches grateful for everyone’s participation, but the families in need will be blessed by such generosity.

March 7th, 2009 - Bridges Outreach / Sandwich Project

A group gathered at the Chatham Church of Christ on Saturday, March 7th to feed the homeless. The Church partnered with the Bridges Outreach to make sandwiches for 100 homeless people. “Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and generosity,” Minister Robert Weber commented. “Making sandwiches for the homeless is just one of our service projects designed to reach out to the community. The church is happy to give it’s time to serve others especially during these times of need.”
