The Importance of Christian Colleges
The Churches of Christ advocate Christian education. The perspective that Christianity brings to learning constitutes a unique way of looking at the world. Our institutions of higher learning reflect this and seek to provide young people with the opportunity to learn about the world through God’s eyes: creation itself reflects the handiwork of God. Education which seeks to understand his created order not only improves the lives of the students but prepares them more fully to comprehend the universe as it was designed. A Christian education furthermore prepares young people to serve God, humanity, and the church by helping them discover their God-given talents and helping them use those talents for the good of all.
The Christian Higher Education Foundation, Inc. www.cofcchef.org, examines the importance of spiritual formation without sacrificing educational quality and is a good source to understand the philosophy of Christian education.. Although the following sites represent most major universities of Churches of Christ, this site also lists our smaller, local colleges as well as several web-based institutions.
